NovoPorta Plano multifunctional steel doors are the flush closing and particularly attractive version of this European generation of steel doors made by Novoferm. The European generation of steel doors was developed with a mind to the new European standard and on the basis of a customer-friendly platform strategy.

As a multifunctional design door, NovoPorta Plano can add even more to sophisticated architecture, enhancing offices, surgeries or elegant lounges, hotel and catering environments, for example. Numerous versions of the Plano have been tested and approved as per German and European standards.

NovoPorta Plano: Highlights

Flush design creates an attractive appearance with exceptional functional performance for outstanding security

(1) Plano flush closing doors
With its flush closure (1) and newly developed frame to match, NovoPorta Plano is attractively smooth and flush. As it is standard supplied without floor recess, Plano does not have to be installed until very late in the construction process, which offers numerous advantages. The foam strip at the back also adds to the attractive appearance of Plano.

(2) Standard slimline 3-D hinges
Makes a lot of promises and keeps them all: The hinges (2) on a NovoPorta Plano are sturdy, slimline and unfussy. The 3-D adjustable version is standard on this door concept and makes perfect door panel alignment with narrow gaps easy. And because looking good is so important, we supply the hinges with a standard galvanized finish or painted in an RAL colour of choice or optionally made of high quality stainless steel.

(3) Flush centre rebate
A flush door concept includes a flush centre rebate (3) on double door units, which is standard on both the NovoPorta Plano and NovoPorta Premio ranges. The same holds true for the highly flexible configurability including all options for construction projects. A choice of various options and additional features is also available for Plano, enabling you to configure the doors to suit your exact requirements.

(4) Attractive details: the hardware
A steel door destined for installation in sophisticated architectural surroundings has to look good. Which is why even the standard version of a NovoPorta Plano already features some attractive details. These include attractively designed and sturdy rosette plate hardware made of glossy plastic (4). Added to which, a wide choice of hardware variants made of aluminium or stainless steel is available, offering various designs and functions. And because we think a door should look just as good when it is open, Plano doors are fitted with high quality mortice locks with stainless steel forends.

Security features

Not every visitor is a welcome guest. Plano offers protection.
The number of break-ins involving theft, vandalism or sabotage has increased by about 50% in recent years. And public buildings and companies are affected, not just homes.

An occasional burglar tries to break in with simple tools: He positions a screwdriver, takes a pair of pliers, forces wedges into the part, or takes a small hand saw to visible hinges.

A 2 tool kit
When testing, a rubber hammer may be used to drive in the wedges or the screwdriver to simulate appropriate manual attempts. Otherwise, the following tools are available: 1 screwdriver, 1 pipe wrench, 1 steel pipe extension, various plastic/wood wedges and various saws (wood, pad, hacksaw).

The time indicated is purely the time taken to work on the door. The clock starts the instant the first tool is applied.

The higher the resistance class,

the longer the door must resist, and
the heavier the permitted tools become.

Single and double leaf NovoPorta Plano doors are equipped with all sorts of security features: such as the hinge pin pull-out safeguard, security hardware, cylinder cover and drill-protected profile cylinder.
Burglar resistant wall connections are also assured – and not just for the usual masonry and concrete walls, but also for foam mortar walls, including the requisite pressure resistant backfilling in the frames.

Smokeproof and soundproof

Reduce noise by up to 42 dB
Increasing noise pollution is a growing problem of our times. Laws governing permissible noise emissions in public buildings and companies have long since been in force.

DIN 4109 only specifies minimum requirements in this respect. During the development of Plano, particular attention was paid to protecting against noise from the outside and protecting against noises penetrating to the outside. As a result, we were able to achieve acoustic performance of 38 dB in a Plano without sill, e.g. for barrier-free access, and of 42 dB with rebate sill.

Both values are just as appealing as the flush design of a NovoPorta Plano.

Smoke protection saves lives
A person only has to inhale three times in a room full of smoke to lose consciousness. So it is reassuring to know that a NovoPorta Plano offers protection, not just from fire, but also from smoke ingress.

Plano already satisfies the strict requirements of DIN 18095 and of the European EN 1634-3.

People around the world strive to protect against fire and its impacts. Plano was designed to satisfy, not just strict standards such as DIN 4102 and EN 1634, but also the future European product standard EN 16034. All relevant approvals and classification reports have been obtained.

Plano’s exceptional performance extends to fire testing.

Fire protection saves lives

A fire breaks out somewhere in the world every four seconds, and about eight million times in the space of one year. The number of victims is high; the economic damages can be in the billions.

Tested and approved to challenging criteria
Plano already complies, not just with strict German standards and quality benchmarks, but also and above all with the future European product standard EN 16034.

It is tested to DIN 4102 and EN 1634 and building code approved by DIBt – signed and sealed European fire protection.

C5 stress test proves the quality of Novoferm

A service life of 20 years in slow motion
When the worst comes to the worst, fire resistant and smokeproof doors must securely seal off a room and prevent smoke or fire escaping. To achieve this, making sure the doors close firmly into the frame in an emergency is essential.
This must be assured by testing the "self-closing durability" according to EN 1191 and classifying it under EN 14600. All doors in the Premio and Plano series have been tested as single units consisting of door panel, hardware and frame in the strictest category – C5 – by impartial material testing agencies.

The test involves at least 200,000 opening and closing cycles in quick motion to simulate a service life of about 20 years.
Following this endurance test, the NovoPorta doors still meet all requirements in respect of gap dimensions and expansion gaps – exactly as specified by the European test standards for fire (EN 1634-1) and smoke protection (EN 1634-3).

Which is why our close scrutiny is not limited to just looking at areas behind our own doors. We also look to the future, and focus particularly, not just on technology, but also on the environment. The resulting products from our development departments in Brackenheim, located close to our production facilities, are cleverly thought through, with consideration of the environmental impact.

Our products are certifiably good – in terms of environmental impact, as well.
Many of our products are sustainable – including, for example our steel multipurpose doors, aluminium / steel tubular frame doors, sliding fire resistant doors and industrial rolling shutters. Alongside the environment, our partners also benefit from the documentary evidence of our EPD certificates. Architects and planners can include these products in assessing the ecological footprint of a building over its entire life cycle – as they have been awarded the seal of "Blue-Green Eco-Efficiency" by German Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V.
