NovoPorta Plano MZ-1 and MZ-2: the details

Hardware:
3-part 3-D adjustable hinges, standard equipped with sliding bearings. Two hinges per leaf, standard primed white, similar to RAL 9016; optionally available in stainless steel. Two securing pins per leaf. PC mortice lock with drawback latch, with stainless steel forend and black rounded handle, turn lock mounted with round rosette plates. On site profile cylinder (90 mm long, 45/45 mm).

Additional features on double door units:
Flush centre rebate with centre rebate seal. Inactive leaf with upward and downward locking front end bolt. Frames: Standard corner frame with three-sided sealing profile, 2 mm thick, frame facing width 50 mm, optionally available: wrap-around door frame, 2240B two-part wrap-around frame profile, counter frame and block frames for butted wall connections.

Sills:
Standard A floor level, B3 optionally available with all-round frame, or C2 with bottom stop, or RS1 sealing sills with lowerable floor seal, RS1 double sill or hump sill with RS2 acoustic threshold seal.

There are no limits to NovoPorta Plano; it opens up a whole new world of design scope. The basic model with pure white powder coating is just as popular as the virtually unlimited spectrum of RAL, DB and NCS colours, or the seven optional Super Dekor wood decor finishes. All of which enable NovoPorta Plano to be matched to a corporate design or to blend into practically any colour scheme. Or quite simply to appeal to the people whose lives it shares.

And because a door always has two sides, they can feature different colours, or even panels, frames or hinges.

Anyone who believes a smooth colour surface offers insufficient scope for design can choose from a large range of laminates featuring all sorts of different patterns. But even then the options offered by the NovoPorta Plano colour concept are not exhausted: doors can also be supplied in a design of choice that is as individual as a property owner’s imagination.

All laminates are lightfast and robust. The top coat seal with matt or high gloss finish provides effective protection against the rough and tumble of everyday life.

Glazing options

The choice of glazing and frame plays a huge role in determining the appearance of a door, but is increasingly being dictated by growing demands for energy efficiency. Novoferm Premio and Plano fire resistant doors can be fitted with (F30 or F90) fire resistant glazing. We are still the only manufacturer to offer our Premio and Plano multipurpose doors exclusively with insulating glass with substantially improved heat transfer coefficients of U_g 1.1 – 1.3 W/(m²K), depending on the type of glass chosen, as per EN ISO 10077-1.

NovoPorta Plano MZ and NovoPorta Premio MZ can be ordered with the following types of glazing, depending on the model:
Standard and customized insulation glass with particularly low heat transfer coefficients as per EN ISO 10077-1. Laminated or tempered safety glass is also available, of course. Ornamental glazing (float glass) is also available featuring three different designs: Mastercarré, Masterligne and opaque glass (see illustrations below) for individual designs. Their different levels of refraction ensure the required degree of privacy.

Impact resistant glazing

Impact resistant glazing as per EN 356 is standard on RC2 doors. Any NovoPorta Plano and Premio door – even T30 models – can, however, be optionally fitted with P4A customized glazing for even more reassurance.

Glass retaining strips can also be safeguarded against anyone unscrewing or levering them off.

NovoPorta Plano can be supplied with sturdy steel glass retaining strips which can be painted the same colour as the door to produce a uniform appearance of the door glazing throughout a building. The width of the strips is always the same – regardless of whether the door is a T30 or MZ model.

Assembly

Look good in any surroundings, quickly installed in lots of walls!

Quite simply, a NovoPorta Plano always looks good. Due partly to the wide choice of surface finishes and colours ranging from RAL of choice and Super Dekor wood laminates to design laminate coatings. But also due to the standard omission of a floor recess on the Plano, which makes it ideal, for example, for drywall construction or for waiting to fit the door until construction has progressed. Which significantly reduces the risk of damage.

What is the point of choosing the most attractive door design only to have it – or even the floor and walls – damaged due to complicated installation procedures? NovoPorta Plano is the perfect option, offering a choice of installation procedures that are all fast, simple and clean. Depending on the type of wall, rebate bolt mounting in combination with a corner frame can be used, or a two-part 2240B wrap-around frame, for example. The latter consists of a corner frame and special 2240B counter skin. What makes it so clever is that the corner frame can even be retrofitted with the counter skin.

The structure can be backfilled – quickly and cleanly – with loose mineral wool* and Novoferm fire protection foam, or conventional mortar. This procedure is particularly fast when using two-skinned frames such as the 2240B as the counter skin can remain empty; only the corner frame has to be backfilled. In some cases, a 2240B frame profile may not actually need to be backfilled at all – and is still tested to EN 1634 with building code approval as per DIN 4102.

Special drywall construction solutions / frame backfilling solutions

NovoPorta Plano with variable 2240B frame profile

F60-A and F60-B lightweight partition walls have proven their capacity as indoor fire protection solutions that are quick, clean and flexible to install. The NovoPorta Plano T30 door system specifically for installation walls allows even flush closing doors with frames to be installed quickly, easily and cleanly. The system comprises the particularly attractive NovoPorta Plano steel door and the 2240B two-part frame profile.

One major advantage is the approved use of Novoferm fire protection foam and loose mineral wool* to backfill the frames. According to the approval, only the rebate section on the corner frame must be backfilled, while the special 2240B counter skin can be left empty.

The entire system has been tested to EN 1634 and is building code approved as per DIN 4102. It already satisfies the requirements of the future European product standard EN 16034.

Frame backfilling solutions

Also approved without backfilling for T30

A frame with T30 approval without any backfilling at all?
And installed in a plasterboard partition wall to boot? You may have thought that was not possible.
But it is – with the new 2240B two-part wrap-around frame. It enables even faster frame installation!

All Planos are standard supplied with 3-D hinges. Technical constraints require larger hinge pockets in the frame than are needed for standard hinges. The space needed to accommodate these hinge pockets is usually created by cutting notches in the UA profile. However, every notch weakens the stability of the wall, which the fitter than has to reinforce with additional components.

A Plano is installed in steel partition walls (min. F60-A) by including double cladding in the reveal. As a result there is no need to notch out the UA profile to house the 3-D hinge pockets; only simple cutouts need to be made in the strips of fireproof gypsum board.

But Plano offers more than that: If the drywall opening has been built exactly to the coordinating size of the door, the frame does not have to be backfilled.

No mandatory backfilling and simple installation using sliding anchors from Novoferm: You can’t perform clean installations any faster than that!

Rebate bolt mounting

Plano makes installation easy – with just one screw per fastening point

The rebate bolt mounting method developed by Novoferm is the quick and clean way to install frames.
What makes it so clever is that you only need one screw per fastening point to assure maximum stability. Which means faster installation. And as the holes are hidden in the frame rebate, they don’t detract from the door’s appearance.

The flush closing NovoPorta Plano is standard supplied with corner frame without floor recess. As such, it offers all the options for efficient rebate bolt mounting to walls made of fair faced masonry, concrete and even foam mortar (only approved for Plano).

If Novoferm fire protection foam, loose mineral wool* or conventional mortar is used for backfilling, the procedure is building code approved for T30, smoke protection and multipurpose doors.

So Plano not only looks good; it is also really flexible.
